Dynamic Drawing teaches teens to communicate ideas through drawings

Student work from Dynamic Drawing

David Sotelo

Joe Del Rosario (BS 95 Production Design)

In Dynamic Drawing, taught past alumnus Joe Del Rosario (BS 95 Product Design), students explore rapid visualization techniques using ink, pens, markers and other related mediums. Students learn to control their lines and line weights while drawing with line economy in a quick visual descriptive style. They develop ascertainment and perspective skills and strengthen their power to communicate ideas and thoughts through drawings. This grade is perfect for students interested in ArtCenter's Product Design, Transportation Design, Analogy, Fine Fine art or Entertainment Design programs.

"We use our weekly drawing studies every bit inspiration for design concepts, and the concepts are tailored to the students' major and portfolio," says Del Rosario. "We employ common objects as texture studies and real environments to create backgrounds for design concepts. The class gives teens the freedom to explore areas of design and techniques while teaching them foundational drawing skills. The students' final sketch book reinforces their portfolio."
